Pre-Issuance Projects

We offer a modular suite of assessments for pre-issuance projects to help you assess eligibility, carbon potential, and delivery risks to inform early-stage financing and offtake decisions.


Land Eligibility & Suitability arrow
We analyse current and historic land use of your project area using our proprietary land cover datasets to provide a reliable estimate of the total area of your project boundary eligible under your chosen methodology, including identification of overlap with other carbon project boundaries.
Carbon Crediting Potential arrow
We assess the project’s ability to generate high-integrity carbon credits by conducting an independent review of the project’s baseline where applicable, and identification of permanence and leakage challenges.
Implementation Partner Risks arrow
We can also review the capability and credibility of the project developer or implementation partner across past/current projects, as well as independent review of MRV plans to ensure robust processes are in place to accurately quantify credits at verification.

Operating Projects

For operating projects you are evaluating an offtake or additional financing agreement on, we support independent assessment of project performance across any methodology.


Carbon Credit Integrity arrow
Independent estimation of project baseline to compare against that presented by the in the PDD.
Historic Performance arrow
An independent estimate of emissions avoidance/removals achieved by the project using our audit-grade mapping datasets.
Interim Performance arrow
A review of any deforestation or degradation since the project’s last monitoring period to ensure interim performance matches expectations.

Growth Yield Estimates arrow
Assessment of the appropriateness of growth-yield estimates presented by the project by conducting a review of scientific literature.
Baseline Scenario Review arrow
Assessment of the likelihood of the baseline scenario at the time it was set, and present day – this has included reviewing likelihood of continuation of pre-project land-use, conversion to commercial forestry, as well as reviews of spatial and temporal trends in planting and harvesting.
Methodology Risk Review arrow
An independent review of the scientific rigour of the selected standard used by the project.
Social, Regulatory and Legal arrow
We specialise in the technical and carbon review of projects and have partnered with AFRY Management Consulting to offer a full-service due diligence for clients looking for a single solution – to include reviews of key social, regulatory, and legal aspects of projects.

How we work with you

1. Scoping

We work with you to build a bespoke quote based on the project details and your needs, understanding the key risk factors you’re most focused on and providing our recommendation based on project details.

2. Team assignment

With a scope of work and timelines agreed, your project will be allocated to a team of science and carbon market specialists, alongside a delivery manager.

3. Kick-off

We’ll hold a short kick-off call with you to ensure all your requirements are accurately captured, and keep you updated on progress, typically over a 2-4 week period.

4. Delivery

On completion, we’ll host a handover meeting to run you through our findings and share our final report, giving you the chance to ask additional questions about our findings and view of the project.
