How to keep fire, disturbances and reversals from costing you credits

Before you can mitigate disturbances in your project, you need to know what you’re dealing with. Is there fire, and how bad? What kind of disturbance, and how do you respond? Where is growth falling behind, and what helps?

In this session we use the Space Intelligence Monitoring Suite – FireTracker, DisturbanceTracker and GrowthTracker working together to track fire damage, canopy loss and early tree growth – to answer those questions on real projects.

We start with a REDD+ project in Peru: mapping disturbances and their causes inside the project area, and fire in the surrounding landscape. We compare what the Suite sees against open-source canopy and fire alerts, and show how spotting problems early buys you time to mitigate.
